I've generally found the Edgar Awards to be really excellent predictors of good books. I enjoyed The Last Child very much; indeed, I've loved all of John Hart's novels. You could do a lot worse than to read his work! I also enjoyed In the Shadow of Gotham -- rather unusually for me, as I'm not normally a fan of historical mysteries. This one seemed to interest me more, perhaps because of its somewhat feminist slant (not so much that those not interested in the topic should avoid the book, however). Your reactions to any or all of these winners would be very welcome here.
